Worship

The celebration of the Eucharist is the "source and summit" of what we do as Catholic Christians. We encourage all the faithful to participate fully in the Mass: praying the prayers and responses together, raising our voices in song, actively listening to the Word of God, walking together in procession to receive Christ in the Eucharist, and offering all that we do and all that we are to our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is our hope that anyone who enters our Church will find God's Presence truly alive both in the Sacrament and in one another, and that they will leave nurtured, fulfilled and challenged to live more perfectly the life to which Christ has called them.

Our Sunday 5:00 PM contemporary service offers features modern worship songs from our contemporary worship team (guitar, keys, bass and drums)


Music Notes

About five minutes before each Mass you will hear a brief recording of the new Mass of Sorrento created and composed by our pastor, Fr Scott. This will help familiarize the melody and new text. The US Conference of Bishops has approved the use of music response changes prior to Advent, while the changes in the prayers cannot take place until the first weekend of Advent. New pew cards with the changes in our prayers will be in the pews the first weekend of Advent to aid and assist parishioners at Mass. This weekend, we start introducing one new Mass acclamation per week.

We also want to take this opportunity to invite those people willing to make a weekly commitment and join our Adult Choir. Help us get ready for Advent, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with extra rehearsals around Christmas and Easter only. A solid commitment will be needed as well as your singing voice, but more important is your heart that wishes to bring glory in service to the Lord. These great folks will bring joy to your heart as they look forward every week to giving praise to the Lord in song.


Little Children of God - @ the 8:30 am & 10:30 am Masses

Please note: There will be NO children's liturgy on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. Explaining God's Word bulletin for the children will be available on the back table.

Children from ages three to six are welcome to participate in a Children's Liturgy of the Word at the 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM Masses through the school year. The children are dismissed before the first reading, and then experience God's Word through song, games and crafts during the Liturgy of the Word at Mass. The children return to Mass after the Prayer of the Faithful.

Cleaning out your craft area?

Children outgrown that crafty stage? Little Children of God would be happy to put your items to work. Any donation of craft items you would like to make to our ministry would be appreciated. Mostly construction paper and glue sticks are what we use but anything that you have laying around and think could be used we're happy to accept. No need to go out and buy items, just if you have things at home and are looking to find a "new home" for them. Bring them to the 8:30 or 10:30 Mass and send them in with the children when they are dismissed. Thank you so much.

Changes in the Mass

As regular attendees of Mass know, we have been preparing for the upcoming changes in the Mass by learning our new sung Mass parts. Beginning Saturday, November 26, the prayers will be changed as well. We will have pew cards for parishioners to follow along with in the pews, as well as our new issues of Breaking Bread. Let us use this time of change to really listen to the prayers we pray together and let the words teach us, and take root in our hearts as we get to know them. If you know someone who is Catholic but has not been attending Mass, maybe just mention to them that this is happening so that they aren't caught off guard at Christmas. Thank you!
